Dates for PCC: the two extra PCC meetings for the vacancy have been arranged. The first one (with Gordon Cooper, Asst Area Dean) will form part of the next PCC meeting on Monday 18^th February. (Please ask Richard for a copy of the agenda and last meeting’s minutes). The second (with Bishop John and the Archdeacon Peter Burrows) will be on Tuesday April 22^nd. These meetings are very important as they shape the parish profile, as well as the application and interview process, so please make every effort to come.

Also, don’t forget the Annual Parish Church Meeting is booked for Monday March 10^th.

 

Congratulations to Alistair on his appointment as Armley Deanery Missioner, an exciting new post to encourage all the parishes in south and west Leeds to develop and grow in mission. Alistair will be taking up this post in mid-June. As this is a very unusual situation where all 3  staff are leaving at once, the diocese are beginning the recruiting process immediately. It is actually possible that we may have a new vicar by the summer holidays, soon after Alistair leaves. Please pray for every step forward as we face these changes ahead.

 

 

GIFT DAY 2008 Over the next few months there will be some important new developments at Christ Church. We are pushing ahead with stage 1 of our building plan which will mean rebuilding the toilets to make them disabled-friendly, rebuilding the crèche room and removing the side pews. We already have a grant of £10,000 from West Leeds Area Well-Being and to make the balance of £15,000 we will be holding a gift day to raise money for this.

At PCC in December we also decided on a further exciting development to recruit a special needs worker for young people on Sunday. Please pray for these initiatives and consider giving to a cause which puts disability right at the heart of our ministry. Do tell us if we haven’t got an envelope for you.

 

We are really pleased to say that Jonny Lewis, our youth worker, has been accepted on the Church Youth Ministry course in Nottingham starting in September, so we are delighted that he will be still working for us for about 20 hours weekly over the next 3 years.
